Return to the Why - Jacob Wester
The north face of Trollvasstind on Norway’s Lyngen peninsula first caught Swedish freeskier Jacob Wester’s eye in 2017, when he made a bold first descent with little knowledge, experience, or documentation. The line lay untouched for nearly eight years until spring 2025, when Jacob returned with Italian riders Jakob and Matthias Weger. Their goal: repeat the descent in Jacob’s trademark steepskiing-freeride style and capture it on film. Beyond the feat itself, the film asks why skiers risk such objectives, exploring themes of growth, adventure, and the reward of leaving tracks on an impossibly steep wall. Return to the Why.
